Swampert

Say it: SWAM-pert

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand

Swampert is the Mud Fish Pokémon — Water and Ground from Mudkip → Marshtomp → Swampert. In Pokémon GO it is a top Water/Ground attacker and can Mega Evolve into Mega Swampert. Water/Ground hits Fire, Electric, Rock, and Steel well; Grass hits it for 4×. Hydro Cannon from Mudkip Community Day (or an Elite TM) is its best Water charged move.

Say it: SWAM-pert

Swampert (#260) is a Water / Ground Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the final form of Mudkip. Trainers use it as a Water/Ground raid attacker (especially Mega Swampert for Water lobby boost) with Mud Shot / Water Gun + Hydro Cannon / Earthquake / Surf. Against Swampert, lead with Grass (best). Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.

Pokédex notes

Swampert is a Water / Ground-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. National Dex #0260. Water/Ground pairs resist Electric — strong in open Ultra League metas.

Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events

Invest tip: Priority Community Day move: Hydro Cannon (Elite Charged TM if you missed Mudkip Community Day). Mud Shot + Hydro Cannon / Earthquake is the usual kit. Shadow Swampert is elite Water/Ground DPS — remove Frustration before investing; keep a non-Shadow for Mega. Farm Mega Energy from Mega Swampert raids and events.

Type matchups

  • Water moves hit Fire, Ground, and Rock hard.
  • Ground moves hit Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel hard.

When Swampert is your opponent, Grass hits hard.

Mega Evolution

Swampert can Mega Evolve into Mega Swampert (still Water / Ground). Mega Evolution uses Candy plus Mega Swampert Energy, boosts Water attackers in the raid lobby, and only one Mega or Primal can be active at a time. Shadow Swampert cannot Mega Evolve — purify first if you want the Mega.
