Aggron

Say it: AG-ron

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand

Aggron is the Iron Armor Pokémon — Steel and Rock from Aron → Lairon → Aggron. In Pokémon GO it is a tanky Steel/Rock attacker and gym defender. Steel helps against Fairy, Ice, and Rock; Rock helps against Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug. Fighting, Ground, and Water (plus Fire) punish it hard. It can Mega Evolve into Mega Aggron (pure Steel) when you have Mega Aggron Energy. Meteor Beam from Aron Community Day (or an Elite TM) is its best Rock charged move.

Say it: AG-ron

Aggron (#306) is a Steel / Rock Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the final form of the Hoenn Aron line. Trainers use it as a bulk-oriented Steel/Rock attacker, Mega Aggron for Steel lobby boost, and occasional Master League / Mega League tank. Against Aggron, lead with Fighting, Ground, or Water (Fire also hurts). Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.

Pokédex notes

Aggron is a Steel / Rock-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. National Dex #0306. Use the Steel/Rock type chart below before powering up — metas shift every season.

Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events

Invest tip: Priority Community Day move: Meteor Beam on the Aron line (Elite Charged TM if you missed the event). Smack Down + Meteor Beam for Rock DPS; Metal Sound or Iron Tail + Heavy Slam for Steel. Shadow Aggron hits harder; keep a non-Shadow for Mega. Farm Mega Energy from Mega Aggron raids and events.

Type matchups

  • Steel moves hit Ice, Rock, and Fairy hard.
  • Rock moves hit Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug hard.

When Aggron is your opponent, Water, Fighting, Ground hits hard.

Mega Evolution

Aggron can Mega Evolve into Mega Aggron, which becomes pure Steel (it loses the Rock typing). Mega Evolution uses Candy plus Mega Aggron Energy, boosts Steel attackers in the raid lobby, and only one Mega or Primal can be active at a time. Shadow Aggron cannot Mega Evolve — purify first if you want the Mega.
