Sceptile
Say it: SEP-tile
Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand
Sceptile is the Forest Pokémon — Grass from Treecko → Grovyle → Sceptile. In Pokémon GO it is a Grass attacker; Frenzy Plant from Treecko Community Day (or an Elite TM) is the best Grass nuke when available. Leaf Blade is a strong always-available Grass charged move. Grass helps against Water, Ground, and Rock; Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug punish it. It can Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile (Grass / Dragon).
Say it: SEP-tile
Sceptile (#254) is a Grass Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the final form of Treecko. Trainers use it as a Grass attacker with Fury Cutter / Bullet Seed + Leaf Blade / Aerial Ace / Earthquake / Dragon Claw / Breaking Swipe / Frenzy Plant. Against Sceptile, lead with Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, or Bug. Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.

Pokédex notes
Sceptile is a Grass-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. National Dex #0254. Grass picks spike during Sunny weather and certain Community Days.
Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events
Invest tip: Priority Community Day move: Frenzy Plant (Elite Charged TM if you missed Treecko Community Day). Bullet Seed + Frenzy Plant / Leaf Blade is the Grass kit. Shadow Sceptile is the DPS lean; keep a non-Shadow for Mega. Farm Mega Energy from Mega Sceptile raids and events.
Type matchups
- Grass moves hit Water, Ground, and Rock hard.
When Sceptile is your opponent, Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug hits hard.
Full type matchup guide →Mega Evolution
Sceptile can Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile, which becomes Grass / Dragon. Mega Evolution uses Candy plus Mega Sceptile Energy, boosts Grass attackers in the raid lobby, and only one Mega or Primal can be active at a time. Shadow Sceptile cannot Mega Evolve — purify first if you want the Mega.
