Staryu

Say it: STA-ryu

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand

Staryu is the Star Shape Pokémon — Water before Starmie. In Pokémon GO it is usually candy on the way to Starmie — not a finished raid attacker. Water helps against Fire, Ground, and Rock; Grass and Electric hit Water hard. Catch Staryu from the wild, eggs, or events, then evolve with a Water Stone.

Say it: STA-ryu

Staryu (#120) is a Water Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the baby stage of Starmie. Trainers almost never power Staryu for raids; the value is candy and IVs for Starmie. Against Staryu, lead with Grass or Electric. Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.

Invest tip: Do not sink Stardust into Staryu. Keep high-IV copies for Starmie. Shadow Staryu is the same — evolve toward Shadow Starmie after Frustration removal.
