Onix

Say it: ON-icks

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand

Onix is the Rock Snake Pokémon — Rock and Ground before Steelix. In Pokémon GO it is usually candy on the way to Steelix — not a finished raid attacker (though it can still tank). Rock/Ground hits Fire, Electric, Ice, and Flying well; Water and Grass hit it for 4×; Fighting, Ice, and Steel punish it. Catch Onix from the wild, eggs, or events, then evolve with a Metal Coat.

Say it: ON-icks

Onix (#095) is a Rock / Ground Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the pre-evolution of Steelix. Trainers usually save candy for Steelix; Onix itself is a temporary Rock/Ground attacker. Against Onix, lead with Water or Grass (best). Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.
