Ivysaur

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand
Ivysaur is the Seed Pokémon — Grass and Poison middle stage between Bulbasaur and Venusaur. In Pokémon GO it is usually candy on the way to Venusaur — not a finished raid attacker. Grass/Poison hits Water, Ground, Rock, and Fairy well; Fire, Ice, Flying, and Psychic punish it. Evolve Bulbasaur up the line. Frenzy Plant from Bulbasaur Community Day belongs on Venusaur.
Say it: EYE-vee-sore
Ivysaur (#002) is a Grass / Poison Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the middle evolution of Bulbasaur. Trainers almost never power Ivysaur for raids; the value is candy and IVs for Venusaur (and Frenzy Plant / Mega Venusaur). Against Ivysaur, lead with Fire, Ice, Flying, or Psychic. Pokédex notes
Ivysaur is the middle step to Venusaur. Hold evolution if a Community Day or exclusive-move event is near — you usually want the special move on the final form.
Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events
Invest tip: Do not sink Stardust into Ivysaur. Keep high-IV copies for Venusaur. Shadow Ivysaur is the same — evolve toward Shadow Venusaur.
Type matchups
- Grass moves hit Water, Ground, and Rock hard.
- Poison moves hit Grass and Fairy hard.
