Chikorita

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand
Chikorita is the Leaf Pokémon — Grass before Bayleef and Meganium. In Pokémon GO it is usually candy on the way to Meganium — not a finished raid attacker. Grass helps against Water, Ground, and Rock; Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug punish it. Catch Chikorita from the wild, eggs, Community Day, or events, then evolve. Frenzy Plant from Chikorita Community Day belongs on Meganium.

Chikorita (#152) is a Grass Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the baby stage of the Johto Meganium line. Trainers almost never power Chikorita for raids; the value is candy and IVs for Bayleef/Meganium (and Frenzy Plant). Against Chikorita, lead with Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, or Bug. Pokédex notes
Chikorita becomes Meganium — a Grass option that spikes during Johto events. Less raid meta than Venusaur but worth a dex slot and event candy.
Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events
Fun fact: Starter lines get frequent Community Day reruns — save high-IV copies for exclusive moves.
Invest tip: Do not sink Stardust into Chikorita. Keep high-IV or Shadow copies tagged for Meganium. Save Elite TMs for Meganium’s Frenzy Plant. Shadow Chikorita is the same — evolve toward Shadow Meganium.
Type matchups
- Grass moves hit Water, Ground, and Rock hard.
When Chikorita is your opponent, Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug hits hard.
