Charmeleon

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand
Charmeleon is the Flame Pokémon — Fire middle stage between Charmander and Charizard. In Pokémon GO it is usually candy on the way to Charizard — not a finished raid attacker. Fire helps against Grass, Bug, Ice, and Steel; Water, Ground, and Rock hit Fire hard. Evolve Charmander up the line. Blast Burn from Charmander Community Day belongs on Charizard.
Say it: CHAR-mee-lee-un
Charmeleon (#005) is a Fire Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the middle evolution of Charmander. Trainers almost never power Charmeleon for raids; the value is candy and IVs for Charizard (and Blast Burn / Mega forms). Against Charmeleon, lead with Water, Ground, or Rock. Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.

Pokédex notes
Charmeleon is candy storage before Charizard. Stack candy during Fire events and Spotlight Hours.
Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events
Invest tip: Do not sink Stardust into Charmeleon. Keep high-IV copies for Charizard. Shadow Charmeleon is the same — evolve toward Shadow Charizard.
