Bayleef

Say it: BAY-lee-f

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand

Bayleef is the Leaf Pokémon — Grass middle stage between Chikorita and Meganium. In Pokémon GO it is usually candy on the way to Meganium — not a finished raid attacker. Grass helps against Water, Ground, and Rock; Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, and Bug hit Grass hard. Evolve Chikorita up the line. Frenzy Plant from Chikorita Community Day belongs on Meganium.

Say it: BAY-lee-f

Bayleef (#153) is a Grass Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the middle evolution of Chikorita. Trainers almost never power Bayleef for raids; the value is candy and IVs for Meganium (and Frenzy Plant). Against Bayleef, lead with Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, or Bug. Stats, type chart, moves, and counter picks below use our Game Master snapshot.

Pokédex notes

Bayleef is a Grass-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. National Dex #0153. Grass picks spike during Sunny weather and certain Community Days.

Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events

Invest tip: Do not sink Stardust into Bayleef. Keep high-IV copies for Meganium and save Elite Charged TMs for Frenzy Plant. Shadow Bayleef is the same — evolve toward Shadow Meganium.
