Abra

Say it: ABR-a

Kids summary (simpler)Tap to expand

Abra is the first Psychic Pokémon in the Abra family (Abra → Kadabra → Alakazam). In Pokémon GO it is usually candy and XP on the way to Alakazam — not a raid attacker by itself. Psychic moves help against Fighting and Poison foes, but Bug, Ghost, and Dark hit Psychic hard. Catch Abra from the wild, eggs, or events, then evolve up the line (a trade for Kadabra can cut candy cost).

Say it: ABR-a

Abra (#063) is a Psychic Pokémon in Pokémon GO — the baby stage of the Kanto Alakazam line. Trainers almost never power Abra for raids or PvP; the value is candy, XL candy, and IVs that carry into Kadabra/Alakazam (and Mega Alakazam). Against Abra, lead with Bug, Ghost, or Dark. Pokédex notes

Abra is a Psychic-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. National Dex #0063. Use the Psychic type chart below before powering up — metas shift every season.

Where in GO: Wild spawns, eggs, Field Research, and seasonal events

Invest tip: Do not sink Stardust into Abra. Keep high-IV or lucky Abrás tagged for the Alakazam evolution, and save Elite TMs for Alakazam’s Community Day fast move Counter. Shadow Abra is the same story — evolve (and remove Frustration) when you want Shadow Alakazam DPS.

Type matchups

  • Psychic moves hit Fighting and Poison hard.
